Grassroots U8-U9 Indoor Soccer

Days of play: U8 and U9 Days of Play: U8 Boys and Girls will play on Saturdays; U9 Boys and Girls will also play on Saturdays. Training will happen one evening a week TBD
U8 and U9 Format: Each Match Day will be comprised of two (2) back-to-back matches, each lasting 25 minutes. The U8s and U9s will change opponents after the first match but all 4 teams will stay on the same Quarter Field (ex: A1-vs-A2 and B1-vs-B2 followed by B2-vs-A1 and A2-vs-B1). This will allow parents to continue spectating from the same area on the concourse. No referees will be used for U8 and U9 Grassroots; Coaches or Game Leaders will be asked to take turns facilitating matches. WYSA will be exploring options to have a Field Marshall on site for these matches.

Days of play: U10 Days of Play: U10 Girls will play on Saturdays. U10 Boys will play on Sundays. Training will happen one evening a week TBD
U10 Format: Each match Day will be comprised of one (1) match with two equal halves lasting 25 minutes each. The U10s will follow a League Format structure of matches, rather than a more dynamic festival style structure. No referees will be used for U10 Grassroots; Game Leaders are encouraged to fulfil this role, and WYSA will pay these individuals. A few Organizations have already agreed to use some players from their older youth teams to serve as Game Leaders for their U10 Home Games.

Recreational U11-U18 Indoor Soccer
Cost: $385

Days of play: Training will happen one evening a week TBD
Season runs from October 31st until March 15. There will be a break from December 21st until January 2nd, and the weekend of February 13th to 15th will be the optional Golden Boy Tournament.
Teams will also typically practice one evening per week at a school gym in the area (if available and is assigned by Phoenix to the Coach). The night is subject to gym availability and could be any night of the week and may not be every week as the gym may not be available for certain weeks due to school functions.
The format for indoor soccer is:
• U11-U12 Recreational Division teams will use not more than 7 players per team on the field; one shall be the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions can be made.
• U13-U18 Recreational Division teams will use not more than 6 players per team on the field; one shall be the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions can be made.
• Length of matches, 2 x 30-minute halves.

The Recreational Soccer Programs require volunteer coaches to provide the opportunity for children to participate in the program. Without these coaches there is no program. Not only will you be contributing to your child's development, but you will also be supporting the community too. Be part of this rewarding experience! If you are willing to volunteer to coach, please complete the appropriate section on your child's registration with the necessary information or contact soccer@eastendarena.ca
To ensure the safety of all participants and comply with Canada Soccer's SQS program coaches must be willing to complete the following, for which all fees will be reimbursed to the coach upon successful completion:
• A Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector. Provided by WPS or RCMP only (completed within the past 36 months)
• A Child Abuse Registry Check (completed within the past 12 months)
• An up-to-date Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders. (expires every 5 years)
• The appropriate coaching certification is required for the age/stage they are coaching. MSA requires the "Learn to Train" level for U11-U12 coaches and/or "Soccer for Life" level for U13-U18. More information can be found via the link. Manitoba Soccer Coaching
• If you coach a team with youth that includes girls or gender-diverse people, you must complete the Respect Group Keeping Girls in Sport Program
Note: Criminal Record Checks and Child Abuse Registry Checks must, at minimum, be in a submitted state prior to the start of the season. All coaching certification requirements except the on-field portion must be completed prior to the season.
